Motivation

I love sports for the lessons we learn from them.  For those that know me they know how much I admire coach Belichick.  I did not watch the first half of the game.  When I finally turned it on the Falcons just scored to go up 28-3.  I didn’t turn it off because I wanted to see how my coaching idle responded to such adversity.  I wanted to see how the Patriots as a team would respond to getting blown out.  Obviously, we now know the outcome so what Belichick showed me and my family last night is why I admire him so much to begin with.  You never quit.  You keep faith in yourself and your teammates.  I saw concern in the eyes of the players but what I saw was not anger with their teammates, it was disappointment in their own performance.  They didn’t like the thought of letting down those they cared so much for.  This was expressed in words and actions after the game.  Brady’s reaction at the end of the game was so classy.  He wanted to celebrate with his teammates and family.  He didn’t want the personal attention.  I watched numerous player interviews after the game and was continually impressed by the team concept.  Do your job was the reoccurring theme.  Be willing to adapt and change.  The amount of faith the Patriots have for one another is remarkable.  They trust the system and they are willing to give the spotlight to a teammate.  Teamwork.  We need each other.  Lift others and you will rise with them.
