CrossFit

Our CrossFit group classes are a health and fitness program that achieves a very broad, general fitness that is applicable to everyday life. This training program is a blend of gymnastics, weightlifting (Olympic and Power), and cardio-resperatory endurance. It’s always varied and never the same. But, that doesn’t even begin to fully explain it.

Our CrossFit program is the most effective way, we’ve found, to achieve a greater level of fitness and health. We’ve taken elite college athletes and made them better, and we’ve taken average families and made them healthier and fitter than ever. We’ve found that regardless of where you are in your path towards being fit and healthy, CrossFit will work for you. CrossFit is designed to scale to your level, so it can take you to your next level.

Check out our CrossFit 101 page to understand the philosophy behind CrossFit, but honestly the only way to truly learn what CrossFit is all about is to get into Mission CrossFit and see for yourself.

How do group classes work?

CrossFit classes are a blend of personal training and group exercise. At Mission CrossFit one or more trainers conduct and guide each class. The trainers will help you determine the level of the workout of the day (WOD) for you based on ability, injuries, and any other relevant factor. Each class performs the WOD together, while the trainers give individual attention to each athlete. A trainer will lead the warm-up, refresh everyone on proper movements and standards, coach each athlete for proper range of motion and safety, and encourage each athlete during the WOD.

You’re not paying for a basic Globo Gym-style membership at Mission CrossFit. You’re paying for a personal trainer, nutrition counselor, and motivator that actually gets you results!

Workouts are generally timed or measured in some way. Every class is a friendly environment of encouragement and competition. Not only does this push you to greater achievement, it’s also a ton of fun! This is an environment where you cheer for and encourage your opponent–where you celebrate with your peers when they outperform you, and they in kind respect your effort to beat them. You simply have to experience it to understand…so why not give it a shot?

What are the membership options?

We offer two types of Membership.

Who are the CrossFit classes for?

These classes are designed for anybody, from 18 to 118 at any fitness level. If you have not trained using the CrossFit method before, then we offer our On Ramp program to bring you up to speed.

We also offer youth classes for kids and teens under the age of 18. To learn more about our youth courses check out the Kaizen Youth Club page.

When are your CrossFit classes held?

We are open everyday of the week, except for Sundays, during significant CrossFit events and major holidays. For our current schedule of CrossFit classes, check out our Class Schedule.

Do you have to be really fit to start CrossFit?

Absolutely not! CrossFit is infinitely scalable to any ability level. CrossFit has successfully trained those who struggle to walk across a room, those who have 100 pounds or more to lose, kids, and yes, even the most elite athletes and those who fight to protect us. CrossFit is a method, not a pass/fail system. Your physical condition right now is irrelevant to whether you are “ready to start CrossFit.”  It’s okay if you’ve looked at the workout of the day (WOD) and thought “I can’t do that.”  Performing the WOD as prescribed is meant to challenge the fittest athletes.   Most people scale the WOD to their ability level.

At Mission CrossFit, our coaches help you find a scaled version of the WOD that’s right for you. We can also work around most injuries and physical disabilities. CrossFit is the path to fitness, not the result of having already achieved it.

Can I jump straight in to your normal CrossFit classes?

Yes, but we only allow this for new members that have previously trained using CrossFit methods. If you have been through an On Ramp program at another CrossFit affiliate, or have attended the CrossFit Level 1 Training Certification, jumping straight into our normal CrossFit classes is available.

Please contact us first about this desire. We will talk with you about it and gather an understanding of your fitness level and CrossFit knowledge. Our Trainers will make the final decision regarding your ability to jump right in. But don’t overlook the On Ramp, it’s a program that will put you through your paces!
